Books so far in my possession. I'm guessing less than a fifth of the books I need. I don't know how best to approach this task. When I think about it, it seems monumental. I want to take next year off and devote myself to researching and writing this project. It is not an option. Even if I could live on familial charity (which I can't) I couldn't long survive, or have any quality of life whatsoever, without medical insurance. I need a rich sponsor. IF I could change my schedule (which, even if an option, would involve a pay cut) so that I work regular hours, week in and week out), AND I quit or at least seriously curtailed my marijuanna intake (preferably the latter), AND I militantly worked on this project four to six hours a day (six to eight on weekends), I might just be able to have a draft in one year. I want to do this.
Bibliography will probbaly have to updated at least weekly. Yesterday, ordered 3 viking related books online, other project-related books, several days before that. I'm finally discovering what I'd like to go see in Scandinavia. The Jelling Stones, the archaeological site of Hedby, poor Tolland Man's head. Another trip to Europe within a year seems like almost as much of a pipe dream as finishing this project in the same amount of time. But it's one I will entertain.
